- Rural Mission Board of Directors Welcomes New Members!
The Rural Mission, Inc. has taken a major step forward as it works to position itself for continued service and ministry for its second 40 years of caring.
Recently the Mission's Board of Directors took the step of approving a plan to expand the size of the Board to welcome new members.

- Another Special Week for South Church
The week of April 20 brought to the Mission again a wonderful group of high school students and adults from Andover, Massachusetts to serve those in need.
This group included 44 youth members and 12 adults.

This year the Exchange Club presented grants to 61 charities and agencies with more than $500,000 from the proceeds of the 10 day fair. The Rural Mission

- An Old Boat Shed is Not a House
The Rural Mission is seeking volunteer commitments and donations to get an elderly resident out of a makeshift house on Johns Island. Plans call for an addition
to a nearby home that will provide a safe and decent place for this senior citizen.

The Rural Mission's outreach to the Gethers family on Johns Island gets a boost thanks to Berkeley Electric Cooperative!
The $2,500 grant to the Gethers family and the Rural Mission will help begin the work to replace their old and unsafe home with a new home.

- Davidson College Volunteers
The Mission hosted a terrific group of young people during the week of February 27-March 4 from the Reformed University Fellowship of Davidson College in
Davidson, N.C. A hard working group of 22 students, they assisted families with repair needs at several locations (added 03.06.10)
- Smiley Home Dedicated
Many people from all walks of life joined together to move in furniture, fill the cupboards and make a house a special home.
The morning was filled with praise, song and prayer for this undertaking that required the hands and hearts from many volunteers and donors. (added 03.04.10)
- Osterville United Methodist Church at Work
Few volunteer workteams have been as loyal as this longtime group of servants from Osterville UMC in Osterville, Mass. John Whiteley again lead this group
of 18 eager hearts to the Sea Islands which are familiar territory for this hardworking group. The worked on three projects. (added 02.23.10)

Few things are as special as welcoming old friends who have made the Rural Mission a part of their lives and service to Christ for many years.

The Rural Mission needs financial support and volunteers to replace this old dilapidated home on Johns Island with a new three bedroom home for
Mrs. Gethers. The new home will be built on her property and the old home demolished upon completion. (added 02.06.10)
- Thank You Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia
For nearly two decades, a devoted group from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Philadelphia has come annually during February to help families in need.
During the first week in February, Dr. Bob Robinson led a group of four seminary students who worked on three different homes.

- Martin Luther King Challenge Brings a New Experience to College of Charleston Students
The College of Charleston challenges its students each year to give to the community and its residents as a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King.
This year's MLK Challenge brought a team of 12 volunteers to the Rural Mission to help make badly needed repairs on an older home on Johns Island. Includes YouTube interview
