Our dreams for 2017 were to assist as many Sea Island Residents with home repairs as possible. With the assistance of many volunteer workteams (approximately 700 volunteers), 30 families (75 individuals) were helped with the following work done: major and minor roof repairs; bathrooms; kitchens; flooring in all parts of the home including the porches; drywall (replaced or installed) for the first time; yards cleaned up (especially following the Hurricane); gardening and more. The home we have been working on with new construction is 2/3 completed. The volunteers came from: Lutheran Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, PA; Chapin United Methodist Church, Chapin, SC; The Citadel, Charleston, SC; Shandon United Methodist Church, Columbia, SC; Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, Columbia, SC; Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, SC; East Greenwich United Methodist Church, East Greenwich, RI; Davidson College CATS Direct, Davidson, NC; Faith United Methodist Church, Chicopee, MA; First United Methodist Church, Greenfield, MA; University of Massachusetts – Amherst/United Christian Foundation, Amherst, MA; South Church in Andover, Andover, MA; Main Street Methodist Church, Kernersville, NC; Tri State Mission Team (ME, NH, FL); Sumach Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Chatsworth, GA; Faith Community Chapel, Leesville, OH; Grace Episcopal, IL; Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN; First Broad Street United Methodist Church, Kingsport, TN; Kingsport Community Church, Kingsport, TN; First United Methodist Church, Crawfordsville, IN; Pleasant Valley Church, VA; Christ United Methodist Church, Greensboro, NC; First United Methodist Church, Madisonville, TN; Temple Lutheran Church, Pennsauken, NJ; Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, IN; St. James United Methodist Church, Warrenton, VA; Wilkesboro United Methodist Youth Group, Wilkesboro, NC; Rising Sun United Methodist Church, Rising Sun, IN; Palmyra First United Methodist Church, Palmyra, PA; Covenant Church, Winterville, NC; Johns Island Mission – Indiana Conference – South District, IN; Hoosiers In Mission (HIM) – Indiana Conference – North District, IN; Holston Conference United Methodist Women, TN and on November 17th we will have 10 volunteers from AMT South Carolina, Ladson to be with us for Day of Caring (Corporations employees giving back to the communities).

We are very grateful to all the volunteers, including the Indiana Conference (North and South Districts) and the Holston Conference – United Methodist Women, TN for assisting us in returning to our offices that were damaged by Hurricane Irma in September. We were hit by Hurricane Matthews in 2016 also. We had to move out of our offices twice – major water damages. We were able to move back into our offices approximately one month and ten days (Hurricane Irma) versus approximately ten months (Hurricane Matthews). Thanks for all your Prayers and donations (monetary, supplies or materials). Keep us in your Prayers daily. Thanks for making the dream work with teamwork.
