Help Us Care for Migrant Children!

Volunteers are needed to help care for the children of migrant workers with Rural Mission in Charleston and Colleton Counties.

The Rural Mission, through the East Coast Migrant Children Headstart Program, has cared for young migrant children for over 40 years. Donations, in-kind service and volunteers are very much needed to provide all that these children need. Your church, Sunday School class, youth group, UMW or other organization … or just yourself … can make a difference. Anyone sixteen years of age or older can volunteer.

The Rural Mission cares for the young preschool children of migrant and seasonal farm worker families working in agriculture in Charleston and Colleton Counties. Volunteers can help us to enrich the lives of these children whose families lead a very difficult and harsh life as migrant workers. These children are a delight to be with. Your time with these children will be an experience that will you will remember and enjoy.

Please contact the Rural Mission to ask about volunteering your time in caring for and playing with these children. We also ask for your help in providing help for their parents and older siblings by donating personal items or clothing. These items are always needed and very much appreciated by these families. Please ask about these needs.
