The Grimball ? Jenkins Family has much to Remember

The family of Ethel Jenkins Grimball have a wonderful way of remembering her on the annual occasion of her birthday.? They gather to undertake a community service project to help others in need on Johns Island. This year they joined with the Rural Mission to help in the work to improve the old home of Mrs. Brown on Boy Scout Road, Wadmalaw Island.

Mrs. Ethel Jenkins Grimball was a family matriarch who instilled goodness and caring in her children, continuing a long held family tradition of community service and giving. She was the daughter of Esau Jenkins who was one of the founders of the Rural Mission and the Mission?s buildings and grounds honor his name as the Esau Jenkins Opportunity Center. He also founded the Progressive Club on the island, now an historic landmark of the early civil rights struggles.

Thank you to the family of Mrs. Ethel Jenkins Grimball for joining with the Mission on this special day!
