Happy Thanksgiving from Pearlstine Distributors!

Two Decades of Caring about the Needy! The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, as has been their tradition for two decades, Pearlstine Distributors and the Pearlstine and Lipov families came to the Rural Mission to help provide a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner to the needy. This year 275 large gift boxes filled with a complete dinner with all the trimmings and sides were given to very needy families. Many otherwise would have had a bleak Thanksgiving. College of Charleston Students Come to Help!

On November 20 a terrific group of eager volunteers from the community outreach program at the College of Charleston joined with us in helping to complete the home for Mrs. Gethers on Johns Island. They painted and installed installation and had a great time doing so. As always, Mrs. Gethers was there to show her families’ warm appreciation and gratitude. On Thursday, November 11, the prestigious Order of the Palmetto was presented to longtime Rural Mission Executive Director Linda Dingle Gadson by Governor Mark Sanford. The Order of the Palmetto is the highest honor for humanitarian service to the people of South Carolina and beyond given by the State of South Carolina and the Governor. Linda D. Gadson has served as executive director of the Rural Mission for 38 years.
